Summer camp for secondary school students studying Chinese

Chinese being a new language with some learners only accessing it in class, it is important to create an avenue for them to access the language and culture outside the routine classroom setting. This activity will avail the Chinese language learner an opportunity to interact with the new language in a new dimension which is fun filled, academic and hands on.The objectives of this week long activity is to;1. To familiarize the secondary school learners with the Chinese language and culture in a new environment through fun, games, songs, etc, away from the routine classroom which tends to be boring.3. To help the Chinese language learners get exposure and contact with their fellow Chinese language students in Uganda and beyond which will help them practice and learn more.4. To give the learners an opportunity to interact with and learn from the native users/speakers of the Chinese language5. To help them improve their level of Chinese language and give them an opportunity to prepare and take international proficiency examinations for young people (YCT examinations)5. To help learners make an informed choice of studying the Chinese language beyond ordinary level of secondary education exposing them to the opportunities associated with learning Chinese language in Uganda and the world.During this one week fun filled activity, the students shall take part in Chinese lessons, singing, dancing, watching movies, games, kungfu, tour of selected Chinese enterprises, cooking, Chinese calligraphy, paper cutting and picture painting.Parents are requested to get in touch directly with the schools for proper planning of this event.
